PROCEDURES FOR CCL SAFETY LISTING

Contact:

Clients may call or write CCL to request information regarding testing, procedures, and fees for Safety Listing.

Quote:

CCL will issue a written quote for the Safety Listing requested. The quote will be based on information received from the initial phone call(s) and from reviewing any necessary technical data. The fees will cover complete testing, preparation of filing materials, and 100% support of the work performed.

Materials:

The information and materials listed on page 2 are required to Initiate Safety Listing. CCL will review the materials when received. Once reviewed, additional information will be requested.

Work Time:

CCL will begin work when the equipment, required information, purchase order (or letter of authorization), and required deposit are received. The project will normally be completed within four weeks. During this time, the client will be working on completing their manual and label requirements.

Failures:

If the equipment fails to meet any of the requirements during testing, CCL will notify the client by phone and will discuss the failures with them (written materials will be sent if the client so requests). The client may work with CCL as closely as needed to correct the problem(s). The following actions will then be taken:

  1. If the problem(s) are corrected in a short period of time, the testing will continue.
  2. If the problem(s) cannot be resolved in a reasonable length of time, the client will be invoiced for the work completed on a prorated basis. CCL will continue to assist the client in any way. A new quote will be issued for the remaining work when the corrections have been made.

Completion:

After the satisfactory completion of the tests, CCL will organize the test data and filing materials into a complete CCL filing report. The report will be mailed to the client. CCL will keep a copy for their records.

Client Responsibilities:

The client is responsible for the review of the CCL filing report. Any changes made to the unit may effect the Safety Listing so the client must not make any changes to the unit without consulting CCL.

The client is responsible to mark the unit tested as Safety Listed by CCL.

The client must maintain the manufactured sample unit identical to the unit tested.
Careful consideration should be taken to follow-up service required for the Safety Listing, and the High-Pot testing required on 100% of the units. More details on this item will be provided with the CCL Safety Listing report.

Follow-Up Service:

Follow-up factory inspection must be done to maintain the Safety Listing. The follow-up service is done on a quarterly basis.

CCL SAFETY TESTING MATERIALS REQUIREMENT LIST

  2. Four complete samples of each telco interface.
  3. Eight additional sets of the "protection components" (overcurrent and overvoltage devices) for each telco interface. If fusible resistors are used, please provide 24 additional sets of these components.
  4. Schematic diagram(s) of the telco interface circuits.
  5. Component layout diagram(s) of the telco interface circuits.
  6. A complete parts list.
  7. Parts information, including:
    1. The manufacturer, part number and component value for all interface components such as capacitors, resistors, diodes, and transistors;
    2. The manufacturer, part number, dielectric rating and UL or CSA recognized component file number for all interface components such as transformers, relays, optoisolators, fuses, and varistors;
    3. The UL file number for all telephone jacks and cables;
    4. The UL or CSA file number for the power supply; and
    5. The UL rating and materials file number for all printed circuit boards and plastics.
